Orin was constantly rotating between Atlantis and the surface world. Eventually the atlanteans killed his father and dragged him underwater. They brainwashed him into hating the surface world. It sort of worked, he held a grudge but still had a soft spot for them. When he was an adult he became King of Atlantis and Aqua Mariner, Defender of the Seven Seas.
