History[]
Early Life[]
Jefferson Pierce was born with his lightning abilities because his father had been struck by lightning the day Jefferson was conceived. He grew up and became a middle school science teacher, as well as the superhero Black Lightning. He fell in love with a woman named Lynne Stewart and they were married soon.
Justice League[]
During the Justice League's second wave of recruits, Black Lightning was the first one nominated because he had previously saved Wonder Woman's life from a bullet that would have gone straight through her throat, shot by the Joker. He was accepted by unanimous consent. He became friends with Wonder Woman, Cyborg, and the Flash.
Disbandment[]
After Superman's "death" the Justice League took a vote on whether or not to disband. Black Lightning was in favor of keeping the Justice League active. However, that was out-voted and they were all forced to leave the Justice League. He and his wife, Lynn, decided to move to Canada where they can start a family, free of his past life as Black Lightning. When Batman offered him a chance on the Justice League, Jefferson said he would love to, but he desires to remain in Canada with his wife and unborn son.
Alternate Future[]
Jefferson raised his son to become the hero Black Static. When Darkseid killed most of the Justice League, he took Black Lightning prisoner and forced him to become a slave, along with Black Canary, Captain Marvel, and Plastic Man.
